A RAID for Every Situation

The use of two hard drives in the form of a RAID configuration is widespread and popular due to its many advantages. However, those who want to take advantage of these benefits often face challenges. Not every motherboard is equipped with a RAID controller, and laptops typically fall outside the realm of possibilities. This is where the ICY BOX IB-RD3621U3 comes to the rescue, effectively transforming two 3.5" SATA hard drives into a high-performance RAID setup.

You can choose between the modes JBOD, RAID 0, BIG, and RAID 1. This means either higher speeds, data mirroring for increased reliability, detection of the HDDs as individual drives, or recognition of both hard drives as one large drive. In particular, striping (RAID 0) is powered by the modern USB 3.0 connection, allowing for transfer rates of up to 5 GBit per second. Lower operating temperatures, thanks to active cooling provided by a 6 cm quiet fan, are rewarded with longer lifespans for the hard drives.
