An action camera is an expensive accessory. The X4 currently costs 100 euros less than the X5 and can largely hold its own against the newer model. Those who run the risk of breaking their camera during use will benefit from the X5's interchangeable lenses. The new InstaFrame selfie mode is not robust. In poor light, the larger sensors and AI-supported noise reduction have a positive effect.
The Insta360 X5 focuses on the user experience: better results in low light, fast and instantly shareable videos thanks to Insta-Frame and simple editing in the app. The images look great thanks to 8K resolution and image stabilisation, and the colours and contrasts are superb. On the other hand, there are deductions due to the bulky dimensions and the rather high price.
A great camera, but not cheap. Quickly ready, good pictures even in low light, not completely distortion-free in vlogger mode. The sound: almost immune to wind noise.
The Insta360 X5 is a convincing successor to the X4 and scores with even better image quality, even more sophisticated functions and an even more robust design. It is an excellent choice for users who want to get the best out of 360-degree recordings.
