Product details

The NiSi Explorer Collection 150x150mm Nano IR Neutral Density filter – ND1000 (3.0) – 10 Stop is designed for adventure. These filters feature a special glass hardening process that makes them double the strength of a typical glass filter. The Explorer series is much less prone to accidental breakage, making it perfect for active photographers. Neutral density (ND) filters uniformly reduce the amount of light entering the lens. ND filters can enable greater motion blurring and image detail by allowing a large aperture and a slow shutter speed. They are also helpful when the contrast between highlights and shadows is too high for a quality exposure. The ND1000 10 Stop is used during the day outside of golden hour, as the bright ambient light requires much more light blocking. These filters can prolong exposures for up to 5 minutes during golden hour with the appropriate settings.

NiSi ND filters do not affect the coloration of the image, offering true-to-life color. They are made from high-quality optical glass (not resin) with a nano coating to prevent loss of detail. By using a neutral density filter, the camera is vulnerable to infrared light, which can cast an unwanted red color in photos when shooting at a small aperture. NiSi ND filters have an infrared protection coating layer to eliminate infrared light through the lens, restoring natural true-to-life color. The NiSi Explorer Collection is made from B270 tempered glass and features the same nano coating process as the optical glass filters. This filter is tempered and hardened, making it much less prone to accidental damage, but it is not unbreakable. Over time, the hardening may decline.
