Noctua

The NH-L9a-AM5 is the AM5-specific revision of Noctua's award-winning NH-L9a low-profile CPU cooler designed for AMD Ryzen-based HTPCs and small form factor systems. With a height of just 37 mm, the NH-L9a is ideal for extremely slim cases and offers 100% RAM and PCIe compatibility due to its small footprint, as well as easy access to socket-adjacent connections even on tightly packed mini-ITX motherboards. The specially designed SecuFirm2 mounting system for the AM5 socket makes installation a breeze, and thanks to the highly optimized NF-A9x14 92 mm fan, which supports fully automatic speed control via PWM, the NH-L9a-AM5 operates remarkably quietly. Finished with Noctua's renowned NT-H1 thermal paste, the NH-L9a-AM5 combines everything users expect from Noctua's larger coolers in a super-compact, high-quality package for ITX and HTPC builds with AMD AM5 processors.

Key specifications

Socket

A CPU socket or CPU slot is a mechanical component that provides mechanical and electrical connections between a microprocessor and a printed circuit board (PCB). This allows the CPU to be replaced without soldering.
Common sockets have retention clips that apply a constant force, which must be overcome when a device is inserted. For chips with a large number of pins, either zero-insertion force (ZIF) sockets or land grid array (LGA) sockets are used instead. These designs apply a compression force once either a handle (for ZIF type) or a surface plate (LGA type) is put into place. This provides superior mechanical retention while avoiding the risk of bending pins when inserting the chip into the socket.

Airflow

The air volume refers to the amount of air that can be moved or circulated per unit of time. It is often measured in cubic metres per hour or litres per second. A higher air volume generally indicates a stronger suction force or circulation of air.

Package dimensions

The low overall height of 37 mm allows for use in very slim small form factor cases and prevents clearance issues with memory modules or PCIe slots.

High Chassis Compatibility

The SecuFirm2 mounting system, specially developed for the AM5 socket, significantly simplifies the installation of the cooler on compatible mainboards.

Straightforward Socket Installation

The integrated 92 mm fan automatically adjusts its speed via PWM, ensuring low noise levels during operation.
