Principles of memory configuration:
Each CPU has 4 memory channels, each with 2 memory slots. UDIMM ECC memory and RDIMM (Registered) server memory cannot be used together. Therefore, when upgrading, you should know which memory is already installed or upgrade completely to RDIMM. Memory slots without a processor present must not be populated. Higher memory frequencies may adjust to other memory clock rates in the system environment and support correspondingly slower clock rates. Low Voltage memory with 1.35V will be clocked at 1.5V when mixed with 1.5V memory due to the fallback option present in the memory.
Memory configuration for good system performance:
Distribute the memory evenly across the memory slots and evenly across the CPUs. If more than one CPU is present, the memory should be configured identically (mirrored to the other CPU) for each CPU.
