Marantz M-CR611 Melody Media
CD Network Receiver
It is not possible to stream directly to WiFi speakers - but the M-CR611 has a Direct OUT, which could be used to feed a transmitter. The M-CR611 has a built-in Bluetooth receiver and NFC and more digital inputs (2x USB instead of 1x, 2x Toslink instead of only 1x). In addition, the M-CR610 did not have the Direct OUT mentioned earlier.
Available here now: marantz M-CR612 (Network Receiver, Black)
yes, you can also save favourites
Yes, Airplay should work: http://m.marantz.de/DocumentMaster/DE/MCR611_EU_DE.pdf (page 68)
Yes, this is possible. Operating instructions: http://m.marantz.de/DocumentMaster/DE/MCR611_EU_DE.pdf
It almost seems as if there is no earth connection: https://www.marantz.de/DocumentMaster/DE/MCR611_EU_DE.pdf here every connection is still shown in detail.
I connected a record player (Thorens TD 320) via the AUX connection, whereby a phono preamplifier is required. I chose the Oehlbach PHONO PREAMP PRO (MC, MM, Midrange), Art. No. 5893311 at Digitec for CHF 101.00.
DAB-C should actually be called DVB-C and goes via a Horizon TV platform, i.e. via a TV tuner! The Maranz can only receive streaming stations via the Internet (Eth connection) and DAB+ via the air.
The price of CHF 499 is currently a temporary promotion that is limited to a certain number of units. This has already been reached for the silver / gold version, which is why the sales prices are different.
Hmm, AirPlay 2 vs. AirPlay 1: which mode does an iPhone 6 with current IOS support? I tested the following today: - Bluetooth activated on the Marantz receiver - Pairing with iPhone 6 via Bluetooth (WLAN deactivated) - Playing music via Bluetooth/Air Play works perfectly. - switched on the "Network Control" function on the Marantz Receiver (default is OFF) - switched the Marantz receiver to standby, Bluetooth connection with iPhone remained active - Bluetooth on iPhone switched off, thus Bluetooth devices disconnected - Bluetooth on iPhone switched on again, all Bluetooth devices remain set to "not connected - manually connected the Marantz Receiver on the iPhone - then the Marantz Receiver switches on and shows the name of the connected iPhone in the display - as soon as music is played in the iPhone music app, it is streamed to the Marantz Receiver - With the remote control of the receiver you can stop, pause, skip forward/back the music on the iPhone. So I can only answer this question effectively: YES, the unit turns on automatically when you start streaming via AirPlay (via Bluetooth). I don't have a test option for Spotify. And I don't have a test option for a test via WLAN and/or LAN either. For the current price (CHF 499), I think the device is really worth buying!
It only has Airplay "1" and the likelihood that a firmware update will come for it is probably very low. The Maranzt has been on the market since 2015.
YES but .... You need a RIAA equaliser preamplifier if it is not already built into the Platensp. I would also advise you not to access the Internet via W-LAN, it is very slow. Use the Ethernet port and set a fixed IP address, DHCP slows down the entire Internet dial-up speed. Make sure you do a software update, this will make a difference in the response speed of the operation ;-) You will notice that it takes a little time to select and activate the menu items. But otherwise a good device thanks to the many interfaces! So that's it, good luck ! G.S.
Unfortunately, we have no experience in this regard.
No problem, firmware updates are regularly installed.
I haven't had the device long, but I have already stored 15 DAB stations. It looks like you can store 50 DAB stations. Or there are 50 memory locations for something including DAB. Maybe the favourites list is something else again.
From the description: "The Melody Media now supports Spotify Connect and many more digital media and streaming features."
If available, information on artist and title is displayed - with scrolling text on one line. However, the unit does not retrieve title information from a music database (Gracenote, etc.).
Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not provide any precise information on this. :-(
I use the CD receiver classically with speakers connected by cable. In other words, I have no experience with streaming to WLAN speakers. The user manual of the Marantz M-CR611 does not contain any information about streaming to WLAN speakers. Hence my assumption: it probably doesn't work.
