Is the shutter compatible with a D3300 and can you also shoot timelapse with it?

Hi Sven, this shutter release is not compatible with the D3300 as it uses a different connector that is not used on the entry-level models. Also, according to a quick google search, Nikon itself does not seem to offer an intervalometer (for time lapse) for the "accessory terminal" or MC-DC2 that the D3300 uses (this one Nikon MC-DC2, release cable for D90/D3100
