Small focal length for astro, of course, but ok for larger fields thanks to the large aperture. I've taken some good sky shots with it myself. Well suited for landscape. For portraits with APS-C format ok with 24 x36 rather too small focal length. I think it is an excellent lens and I am very happy with it.
