The Yamaha MusicCast 20 uses Wi-Fi for connectivity and is not directly compatible with a 5G LTE router with SIM. It requires an existing Wi-Fi infrastructure to work. If you are using a 5G LTE router with SIM, it would need to provide a Wi-Fi connection for the MusicCast 20 to connect to it.

Hello Jediy Had the same problems with various yamaha musicast devices. After the firmware upgrade I could only pair a few speakers. Tried x things and finally I plugged all devices that were further away from the WiFi access point into a network cable. After that the pairing worked fine again. According to a forum post, yamaha has changed something in the transmission encryption and if a device is now too far away from the WiFi AP, the delay for synchronisation is too long. ...for me, the sync only works perfectly again if the distance is less than 5m...tragic, but that's the way it is. I had temporarily switched to sonos out of annoyance with yamaha...but the app is even worse there than with yamaha...in my opinion. If both could programme a decent app, both systems would be top.

Hi. Is the firmware up to date? If it was up to date, try turning everything off including the router and try again to check that the MusicCast controller app is also up to date (released today).

Hello Olilo, unfortunately I can't help you with the availability of the Musicast 20. I can only tell you that I am completely satisfied with Yamaha and the MusicCast Multiroom System and can only recommend it. I have the Yamaha R-N803D and the MusicCast 20. The MusicCast app has also recently been redesigned and is now even more user-friendly. I find the Musicast system clearly superior to Sonos.

I don’t have exactly your amp, but do have the Yamaha AV rx-s601d amp with music cast and can confirm that the three behaviours you want (803 by itself, 803 sync to 20 for multi room synchronous audio, and 803 playing one stream and the 20 playing another stream) is exactly what I do on a daily basis with mine. You have to use the MusicCast app to be able to « join » the two speakers together, and to break them apart. Sometimes this can be buggy when the av amp requires a firmware update (I now have a firmware update notification mechanism due to this bug 😂) but I would say it works well enough that even my wife and kids can use it without issue. All in all, it does what I wanted and I’m happy with it.

1: By default, the device has neither Alexa nor Assistant 2: Presets can be saved: the device has (unfortunately only) 3 programmable buttons. Unfortunately, all buttons on the device are "flat", so they cannot be felt in the dark - but they are there and work :)

The sound is generated by the laptop. So you can select that the sound output is played via the MusicSast. Whether it's Netflix or something similar doesn't matter. I occasionally watch Swisscom TV on the iPad with sound output on the MusicCast.

This was added with a software update and works. I don't know in which condition they are delivered. I can control mine (update carried out after unpacking) via iPhone without any problems.
