1. Nuvo jFlute 2.0

The jFlute is the perfect first flute for ages 4 to 10. It plays fully chromatic with standard fingerings up to low D. It can easily be upgraded with the jFlute Upgrade Kit, which includes a straight head joint and a C-foot joint. The jFlute comes with both the patented Firstnote lip plate and the standard lip plate. In early 2019, Nuvo upgraded its flutes with a range of exciting enhancements. These include improvements to the feel and performance of the springs, as well as the addition of silicone touch pads for the keys. This provides a pleasant feel under the fingers and avoids potential issues with nickel allergies. Nuvo also improved the jFlute head joint by replacing the curved head with the new innovative "Donut" head joint. The "Donut" is an elegant solution that shortens the flute's reach while keeping the embouchure hole aligned with the keys. This helps young beginners maintain balance with the flute and makes it much easier to set up for each lesson. You will be surprised and delighted by the resonant tone of the "Donut." The new jFlute 2.0 also includes key extensions to assist small fingers and a brand new case that is smaller and easier to transport for the young flutist.

2. Nuvo jSax

The jSax follows traditional saxophone fingering patterns, allowing children to develop a saxophone approach and playing skills early on. It has a surprisingly soft saxophone sound and is also enjoyable for an experienced amateur saxophonist to play. Like all other Nuvo instruments, the jSax is tuned in C, enabling it to play along with all WindStars music pieces. It has a fully chromatic range from middle C to G in the next octave. For beginners with small fingers, there is a set of plugs (training wheels) that can seal the tone holes during the first days of learning.

The jSax is lightweight and super durable, and it is 100 percent waterproof, making it very suitable for both lessons and travel. The jSax uses standard Nuvo reeds with strengths of 1/2 and 2, which are included in the kit. It can also use an Eb clarinet reed, and some soprano sax mouthpieces fit as well. You might also want to try the synthetic reed from Légère, which fits all Nuvo instruments. The jSax comes with a sturdy, blow-molded case, a carrying strap, and a fingering chart.

3. Nuvo jSax Black - Green

The Nuvo jSax Black - Green is a C-tuned saxophone designed as an accessible entry point into the world of saxophones, particularly suitable for young instrumentalists. This instrument stands out with its distinctive black-green color scheme and is made from durable materials that are suitable for educational purposes. As a non-electric brass instrument, it offers a practical alternative for beginners with a lightweight design that facilitates handling and reduces physical strain during practice sessions. The jSax model focuses on fundamental playing techniques with ergonomic key placement and precise mechanics that support the development of a correct approach and breath control. The construction emphasizes reliability and easy maintenance with components designed for straightforward cleaning and care. The instrument produces clear, focused tones in the key of C, making it compatible with standard learning materials and ensemble playing. This model serves as a beginner instrument that combines playability with durability, promoting continuous practice and skill development. The compact design includes protective features for the mouthpiece and keys, ensuring the instrument's functionality with regular use. The materials are selected to withstand the demands of beginner practice while maintaining acoustic integrity. The jSax embodies a thoughtful approach to early music education, providing a functional instrument that teaches fundamental saxophone techniques without unnecessary complexity.
