Can the sensor be left on or does it have to be removed, otherwise the battery will be drained (as is the case with Polar, for example)?

I always take it away because it's easier to clean the strap that way (even in the washing machine). The consumption occurs when the heart rate is recorded and for the connection to the watch. So if you're not wearing the strap and there's no connection to the watch (no ongoing training), I don't think the battery is being drained.
