Can this grossly overpriced monitor also be attached to the desk with a bracket or does the stand have to be mounted?

You can also mount the monitor with a 10x10cm vesa mount, but since it is recessed, you cannot use every mount. The width of the recess is approx. 11.6 cm and the height is over 15 cm.
