Does the usb c port work as a display port? So the monitor can be connected via usb c to the adapter?

Any device can be connected via HDMI. I always connect an external hard disk with USB-A and watch my files on the TV via HDMI. Works perfectly.

Yes you can plug a monitor over an HDMI and it works for me
