From the pictures I can see that the camera on the back protrudes slightly from the housing. Doesn't this interfere with placing it on a table? I assume that the problem is solved with a protective cover?

Yes, the camera is slightly a. A cover would be better. There are also cases with an integrated keyboard and touchpad. Worth considering.

I have the Samsung book cover and it definitely offers more protection for the camera than without it.
