Has anyone also had problems with the DP? HDMI word recognised on the monitor, DP not.

No, I haven't had any problems either. You just need to make sure that the dp port on your computer is compatible. You may also have several dp ports on your computer, so try them all as they may not be configured in the same way.
For example, on my laptop, only 1 of the 2 dp ports is compatible.
