Hello. Swisscom has sent an SMS informing you that emergency calls can no longer be sent via this mobile as of 1 January 2026. The reason is the switch-off of 3G technology. How can this be, as this is a new device that supports up to 5G.

I made an emergency call to 144 with my realme 14pro+ on 8 January and it worked perfectly. But today I read in KTipp that Swisscom has switched off 3G as of 3.2.26. However, as I made the emergency call before 8 January and am also with Sunrise, I can't say whether this is really true. I wrote to realme support earlier. Let's see... It would be a great pity if I had to exchange the phone...

Unfortunately, I also received the SMS from Swisscom. Conclusion: It is not an error, i.e. the emergency numbers are apparently only sent via 3G. I therefore contacted the Realme helpdesk several times. Again, a sobering conclusion: they simply didn't want to understand that a firmware update was needed and wanted to make sure that Volte was activated. I assume that once 3G has been switched off, transmission will at least be possible via the Volte function. With this in mind, I can only urge you to contact the Realme Europe helpdesk. Perhaps this will help to get things moving. Incidentally, I had the same problem with my last 5G mobile from Realme and therefore bought a new one this year on the assumption that 5G would apply to all connections. This is probably not the case. It's a shame that no information is provided at the point of sale.

We have no information on this because the device supports 5G. It is possible that the SMS is generally directed and means that devices that only support up to 3G will no longer work and not explicitly your device.
