Hello I bought the Asus rog strix B360 F gaming motherboard and wanted to ask if I can use this CPU on it without problems? I read on the internet that you can get good results in benchmarks with the 8700k CPU but the 9700k is not listed. Is this a good combination with the mainboard or should I use the 8700k? Thanks
Hello Patrick
Basically, you should always play it safe. No experiments. So what are your options? You could write to Asus and ask them. That often works quite well. Or you can browse the Asus website - if necessary with a trustworthy IT specialist - to find the right answers. In the mainboard section you will usually find the compatible devices and modules for the mainboard in question. Or you can enter your keywords and questions into Google and look at the results. But be careful: People like to speculate wildly here, so be sure to check. But this can lead you on the right path. Of course I won't do the research for you, that's your job. I certainly won't make any technical statements about modules I don't know. So, only if you are absolutely sure that the Intel 9700K will fit on your mainboard, you should take it. One last hint: A reliable statement is always the socket. My 9700K runs on the Intel socket LGA 1151. Ergo: Go to the Asus website and search for all mainboards that run on your socket or search for your mainboard and look for the matching, compatible CPUs.
With a little time, logic and research you should reach your goal. Have fun!
Many greetings
Tom
I just saw on the Asus website that your motherboard only goes up to the 8th generation. It's right there on the product page in the first place https://www.asus.com/ch-de...
But the i9700K is the 9th generation. That's what the 9 in the i9700K designation stands for. So this 9th generation CPU does not fit on your board.
Everything clear?

i wanted to know if i can use this one even though the chipset is not z370 but b360
Hi, this will be because you need to do a BIOS update first to run a 9th generation. See the supported CPU list with the BIOS versions: https://www.asus.com/Motherboar...
