Hi. I bought a used GTX 1080ti. Because it needs 2x PCI E cables, I went to buy them in the shop: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/delock-6pin-auf-2x-8pin-fuer-grafikkarte-stromkabel-intern-pc-5928106 When I then connected the graphics card, one of the two screens was not recognised. In the device manager the graphics card is not recognised, but under graphics cards it says "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". About the graphics card. The two lights above the connections for the power supply light up white. The graphics card lights up completely red after the computer is started. Perhaps it is important to say that everything worked before. I had previously installed a Gigabyte RX580. My components: MSI B450: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/msi-b450-gaming-plus-max-am4-amd-b450-atx-mainboard-12282959 2x 16gb DDR2 RAM: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/corsair-vengeance-lpx-2x-16gb-ddr4-3600-dimm-288-ram-12509401 1TB HDD 500GB SSD GTX 1080 Ti: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/asus-rog-strix-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-o11g-gaming-11gb-grafikkarte-6188992 Ryzen 5 2600: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/amd-ryzen-5-2600-am4-340ghz-6-core-prozessor-8359328 Be Quiet 500W power supply: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/be-quiet-system-power-9-500w-pc-netzteil-7671491 I have done all Windows updates. My guess: Too little power supply? I would really appreciate your help!
All your components together need approximately 490 watts.
If you run these DIMMs (RAM) with the given DRAM frequency. (For your information: XMP - 3600 - must be configured manually in the BIOS).
Then you might already be over the 500 Watt limit of your PSU at voltage peaks.
Then you also make the mistake of splitting the connector, thus limiting the voltage to the given maximum of the PSU - PCI-E output. Never do that. Depending on the load, your graphics card will then try to draw more current than your PSU can supply from this single connection.
Your Be Quiet PSU offers 2x 8pin PCI-E, so why split it? Just use the cable that you still have free.
If you haven't overclocked your DIMMS (to the frequency of 3600) as mentioned above, then it might just be enough at 100% load. But it's quite possible that your box simply switches off at voltage peaks.
With 500Watt PSU you are really at the absolute minimum, if you have problems I recommend a new PSU with more power.
Many thanks to all. Everything is running again! I've installed a 700W power supply and I'm no longer using an adapter for the graphics card.
Hi! If the 1080 TI is not cracked and you use a Y-cable as shown in the picture for the power supply, I think this already points to a power problem!
DDR4 Ram I mean of course
