I bought this laptop: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/lenovo-legion-slim-7-1560-full-hd-intel-core-i9-10980hk-32gb-1000gb-notebook-13762082 It has two Thunderbolt 3 ports. I wanted to buy a docking station for it. When filtering suitable docking stations, you can search for Thunderbolt in the fields "Docking station type" and "Data port". But which is the relevant field when it comes to the connection interface between the laptop and the docking station?

The connection from the laptop to the docking station is made via a USB-C cable.
If you want to use the docking station for gaming, make sure you don't buy a DisplayLink dock, as this would not be able to use your great Nvidia GPU.
The better option is USB-C with DisplayPort Alternate Mode.
