I have a Sony fx30. Is it true that you can't import footage with the XAVC S codec directly into the free version and therefore need the full version?

If you are working on mac you can import it in free version, on windows you can't, you will need a Studio version on windows to work with xavc-s footage. you can always transcode it to another friendly codec to work in free version on windows but that is just another step in you workflow.
