Is DDR4 SDRAM really necessary for this barebone or can I also use regular DDR4 RAM? As long as the same form factor of SO-DIMM 260 pin is kept, I don't know the difference.

There is only one type of DDR4 SO-DIMM; no matter what some people add in the description. Observe the frequency; read the instructions. Check out the supported bars on ASRock's homepage on the Internet.
