Question about Sony Xperia X Compact
Is the corresponding Sony charger exactly what is needed to use the Quick Charge function? Is there intelligence in the charger or does it simply have more power?

The original power supply unit is not necessarily required. You can also use another device as long as it supports Quick Charge technology. This should be stated in the description or under the specifications of the charger.
In an emergency, however, any other charger will work without problems. It's just a little slower.
