My computer (asus g10aj-ch032s) has a 500W power supply. The minimum recommended power for the GTX 1070 is 500W. Is that enough for trouble-free operation?

It can work. But it is definitely not enough for interference-free operation.

similar comparison:
minimum system specs --> relatively poor FPS, lowest graphics settings.
optimal system specifications --> relatively good FPS, medium graphics settings

If you want to overclock, use too many hard disks or sli, I recommend a 650 Watt power supply (80plus Silver or Gold certificate).
