Hi. I have exactly the same issue on my WiiM Ultra. Did you resolve the issue? If yes, how?
I have noticed that my remote pairs as Voice Remote 2 (silver pic on the app and a different button configuration), while my remote is a previous version (black). It pairs, but nothing works after pairing. I tried multiple times.

The problem is that the remote control only works for a very short time with rechargeable batteries, after that they are too weak.
They simply have to be completely full otherwise they won't work. But I don't have that with other devices. But the app always works.
