Product details

In an elaborate, more than five-hour production, Westdeutscher Rundfunk WDR is producing Michael Ende's world bestseller as a powerful-voiced radio play this autumn in cooperation with Silberfisch/Hörbuch Hamburg and Michael Ende's heirs. In a clever dramatization with more than fifty speakers, specially composed music and sophisticated sound installations, the world-famous characters Atréju, Fuchur and Karl Konrad Koreander are brought to new life. An adventure for the whole family!

The new production of the WDR, with Anna Thalbach, Hans Kremer, Jürgen Thormann, Mechthild Grossmann, Jens Wawrczeck and many others

Arranged by Ulla Illerhaus, directed by Petra Feldhoff and music by Felix Rösch

Author text
Michael Ende was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1929 as the son of the surrealist painter Edgar Ende and died in Stuttgart in August 1995. In a sober, soulless time, he reclaimed the almost lost realms of the fantastic and dreams for children and adults alike, and became world famous with books like "The Neverending Story" and "Momo".
Today he is one of the most famous German writers and has always been a very versatile author. In addition to books for children and young people, he has written poetic picture book texts and books for adults, plays, opera libretti and poetry. Many of his books were filmed or edited for radio and television. He has received numerous German and international prizes for his literary work.
His books have reached a total worldwide circulation of over 20 million and have been translated into nearly 40 languages.
