The Incredible Adventures of the Orphan Boy Kim. Kim lives as a street boy in the slums of Lahore. At night, he runs errands on the crowded rooftops of the city; he is free, but alone. When he meets Teshoo Lama, he decides to accompany him on his journey across the country along the Grand Trunk Road. Thus, Kim, "little friend of the whole world," becomes not only an explorer but ultimately even a spy in the service of the Empire.
