An old wolf approaches the animal village. He knocks at the hen's house because he wants to warm up and cook stone soup. The hen has never heard of stone soup, so she becomes curious and lets the wolf in. Gradually, all the neighbors arrive, concerned about the hen and her dangerous visitor.

Everyone has a suggestion to improve the stone soup, and soon celery, zucchini, leeks, turnips, and cabbage find their way into the pot.
