Does anyone have experience with the Reflecta DigitDia scanner?
Hello Hadojema
I have now scanned 4500 slides of my grandmother.
For me, the price/performance ratio is right. However, it has a few things you need to think about.
How fast do you want to scan? If your answer is "fast" and you are willing to make other compromises then this is a good solution.
+scans fast (50 magazine in about 4 minutes)
-resolution not comparable to the expensive refelecta scanners
-image is always in landscape format (portrait format slides have to be rotated manually or it cuts off the image)
-zoom function depending on spec slide unfortunately so that it cuts off the outermost edge of the image
-difficult with Paximat magazines, we then drew our "own" magazine and 3D printed it so that we had the pitch of the Paximat but the shape of a DIN magazine. This way we could "overturn - scan - overturn" the magazines.
It didn't come with any software, I then worked with Photomyne for splitting and editing, colouring the images (but costs per year).
If you are not sure then borrow a device. Sharely is one such platform.
If you want to quickly scan your slide collection without higher quality demands, this device is not bad. The hairs in the soup are: all upright slides in the magazine need to be placed crosswise, the framing requires manual work and the scan setting options are very modest. Operation via the buttons requires getting used to. The advertised slide show function doesn't really work because of the portrait problem. In the end, there is no way around hiring a Nikon Coolscan 5000s for the best quality, but it is almost 40x slower.... And my Reflecta Evolution gave up the ghost after one month and two scans, the usual Reflecta plastic quality.
I did buy one and scanned two diamond magazines, but then the grandchildren came to visit and I couldn't continue. I don't have any experience yet, so unfortunately I can't say anything.
