I have tested it with my Epson V370 scanner. The PDF created directly with the scanner does not result in a "searchable PDF". How could it? A PDF is created from a graphic. I read the Epson scanner PDF into "PDF Experte 8 Ultimate", left the OCR over it and saved it again. Now I had a "searchable PDF". In short, to get a "searchable PDF" you need another tool.
