Is there a way to digitise Super 8 films with sound? Is there a device on the market that is commercially available?

I have been looking for a film scanner with sound copying in the past and again now.
Unfortunately without success.
I scanned some films with the Reflecta Film Scanner Super 8 - Normal 8 and then edited them with the video programme MAGIX in the PC as follows:
Take the sound of the films from the sound output of the film projector and feed it into the microphone input of the video camera. Project the film from the projector onto a white surface and record it with the video camera. Also copy these video scenes to a second track in the video programme. In this way, the sound can be assigned to the scenes recorded by the film scanner in the image comparison. After separating the sound track from the video scenes and deleting the video scenes, play out the finished film.
The whole process takes a little patience, but the film is saved for another generation.
It can also be corrected somewhat during editing. For example, exposure errors, colour adjustments or removing boring scenes.

Good luck and best regards

I would play the film and record the sound separately, then merge them together

Not with this device, it's just a scanner for video, without sound.
