Hello Kathrin. I just saw your question from 2015, but maybe my answer will help new interested parties. The lamp can be shortened in length. I bought this lamp myself and shortened it. It is a bit tricky, but it works. Best regards Manuela

As you can see from the specifications under "Lamp features", this lamp cannot be adjusted in height.
