Is it just a motion detector or does it also register whether it is light or dark in the room? During the day I don't need a light when I walk past the bed...

Hi Tpiracer! Both are correct. In my room, the device reacts as follows: in broad daylight, the LEDs do not light up, whereas at night, if there is movement in the vicinity, the LEDs switch on and then switch off again after an adjustable period of time. VG
