Yep, there's plenty of room for a cup of rice and water under the vegetable basket.

I've never tried it but it should be possible as the rice is ready in a few minutes.

I sent the rice cooker back after unpacking it... it was too small for me and somehow too puny in the whole way... it was meant as a gift... maybe it's good!?
