Hello all I have several questions: Is the part suitable for 2 cats or for animal hair? Can I activate the part remotely or say clean now and watch what he does? For example, if there are cat toys on the floor, can it bypass them or recognise them? Thank you for your answers
Hello DarthShadow
Thank you for your question, we would be happy to address any points you may have. The Roomba models from the e/i/j/s series have two rubber blades that move in opposite directions. So the collected dirt lands directly in the dirt bin of the Roomba without getting caught in possible brushes. The Roomba models are therefore extremely well suited for pet owners.
You are also able to control your robot remotely via the app, so you can start it at any time. You can also see the name of the room it is currently in on the Dashboard, but you cannot monitor it via camera access or similar.
It does not recognise possible cat toys on the floor as obstacles. If this is important to you, we would be happy to recommend the Roomba j7/ j7+, which recognises and avoids objects such as cables lying around.
Best regards,
Your iRobot Team
Yes, the Roomba i7158 is suitable for pet hair, which does not get caught on the brushes. The robot has two rubber slat brushes that are ideal for picking up pet hair.
It is not possible to observe where the robot is at any given moment. Also, the robot cannot recognise objects and avoid them due to a database stored in the robot. It drives and relies on the built-in sensors; if objects are flat on the ground, then there is a possibility that they will not be seen because they are outside the sensor range. It is possible that the Front Bumper will be triggered if a cat toy is bumped into, usually robots like this are very cautious.
Activating remotely is not a problem. Watching where the robot is at the moment is possible with devices equipped with LIDAR radar, they always know 100% where they are at the moment in a flat and you can also watch the track of a LIDAR robot in a live mab.
An alternative to the i7158 would be the Roborock S6 MaxV, it has 3D object detection cameras built in, detects objects that are on the ground using a constantly expanding database of object images stored in the robot. The S6 Max V has a LIDAR radar sensor and can be tracked live on the internet as it moves. As an additional feature, the camera built into the S6 MaxV can also be activated in a so-called surveillance mode, so that a camera view of one's own home can then be displayed on the app (this function is not activated by default).
I hope I don't get another abuse from iRobot for mentioning a Roborock here, it's important to me that future buyers are informed objectively, because it doesn't help anyone in the end if they buy a product that might disappoint. The Roborock S6 MaxV costs as much as an i7158 and can also pick up pet hair (has a flap fine bristle brush).
