I think it's great!
In summer, fruit flies are everywhere. They come through the holes in the lid.
In summer I always put it outside and empty it often.
But the plastic buckets were no better in terms of fruit flies - they broke every year in the winter when it froze. I've had this one for several years now. It always gets really clean.
