The two models are almost identical. The HD9860 model shown here has an additional "Favourites" button where you can save a setting that you use often. This model also has SmartSensing technology on board. This detects the amount of food being cooked and adjusts the temperature and cooking time independently.
I would recommend the HD9860 as it offers more and is even cheaper than the HD9654. PS: The capacity is identical for both appliances. Therefore, the previous speaker's statement Swiss60 is not correct.
