Automatic locking thanks to Twist-Lock. The Eagle HMS Twist by Ocun is an HMS carabiner with added safety: it locks automatically as soon as its open gate is released. This prevents forgetting to screw it shut, which can happen with conventional HMS carabiners—though a partner check should still be kept in mind!

With its 2-way closure, the Eagle HMS Twist is not yet classified as a "Safe Biner," but it serves well as a quick solution for top roping, especially when using two opposing carabiners. A major application is body belaying while climbing with a belay device, such as the GriGri and similar devices, attached to the harness. It is also well-suited for belaying with a tube device, where the rope runs around the carabiner but is also guided through the tube, minimizing the risk of unintentional unclipping.

Only when belaying with a classic HMS knot, where the rope wraps multiple times around the carabiner, is a different locking system advisable—one that requires the locking mechanism to be turned more than 360° (like conventional screw-locks) or involves multiple movements to open (like a 3-way lock).

The design of the Eagle HMS Twist, with its rounded upper arch, is particularly optimized for secure belaying with tube devices. The rope runs smoothly and does not jam. Additionally, the carabiner gate won't get caught thanks to the Keylock nose.
