The SPAX-typical T-STAR plus drive is a so-called hexalobular socket. This shape increases the contact surface of our T-STAR plus and the T-STAR plus bits sit perfectly in the screw head. The best possible power transmission from screwdriver to screw thanks to T-STAR plus enables you to work quickly and much more efficiently than with all other drives. The countersunk head (or flat countersunk head) mills a recess into the wood with its polygonal underside ("pockets") and can therefore be countersunk without additional countersinking of the screw hole. The countersunk head is flush with the surface. The partially threaded screws are ideal for fastening thin components such as wood-based panels, boards or planks to thicker components such as squared timber or beams. The most popular wood-based panels in furniture construction are the so-called MDF panels. MDF stands for medium-density fibreboard, i.e. it is a very fine-pored and homogeneous furniture board whose edges can be screwed and nailed, unlike chipboard or coarse chipboard. However, MDF boards tend to bulge or split at the board edges if the edges are not pre-drilled. We have developed SPAX-M to prevent precisely this: The combination of the CUT tip, which virtually drills the screw hole itself, the razor-sharp wave profile and the small 75° milling head for flush countersinking of the screw ensures that you can screw your MDF components together without any problems. However, we recommend maintaining an edge distance of at least 25 mm from the edge of the board, even with the SPAX-M. For you, this means: secure edge screwing, no splitting of the board edges.

In contrast to partial threads, the full thread extends over the entire length of the screw. The more thread turns a screw has, the greater the tensile and compressive forces that can be transferred from the screw to the wood. Our full-thread screws are primarily used for highly stressed wood connections.
