From 31 December 2020, it will unfortunately no longer be possible to receive real-time traffic information via the built-in SIM card in Switzerland£. How should I understand this? Is there no more data in general or only for TomTom?
why always negative assumptions rsp accusations ? The reason for switching off or no longer receiving live traffic reports directly via the TomTom is purely technical. TomTom uses a 2G-GSM SIM card, which will be supported in most countries for a long time. Swisscom will switch off the 2G mobile network at the end of 2020, so it is the "bad guy". And TomTom does not support 3G/4G. Let's hope that TomTom will install SIM cards that accept the new mobile networks in the future. One consolation remains: When abroad, the live traffic report works directly via TomTom, where the diversions via the mobile phone would be expensive due to roaming charges.
Either way, the TomTom 5200 or 6200 remains one of the best devices on the market.
I assume that the built-in simcard is anything but from a Swiss provider and therefore runs a roaming service. Since this costs TomTom too much, they are now killing the service. If live data is still desired from then on, it must be obtained via a Bluetooth or WLan connection to the mobile phone.
