I plugged the adapter into my new hair dryer. Unfortunately, however, one of the adapter poles is now "sticking out the back". When I plugged it into the socket, I would probably touch the pole, which could be dangerous? Has something been delivered incorrectly?

This adapter os meant for a german 3 prong SCHUKO-plog to tje swiss 3 prong. If used as intended there won't be a prong sticking out since it's inserted to the hole of the round plug. If you used a 2 prong plug then the 3rd prong will stick out but it doesn't carry any electricity. It's the ground wire.
