74 games you can look forward to in 2023
2023 promises to be a huge year for gaming. From "Diablo IV" to "Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" and "Stalker 2", there are plenty of big hits on the horizon. So make a space in your diary.
Here you will find the most important games for PC, Playstation, Xbox and Switch that should be released in the next twelve months. Games with a release date are sorted chronologically, followed alphabetically by all those that only have a date of 2023.
January
"Forspoken"
Frey is transported from New York to the mysterious fantasy world of Athia. There, she uses her newfound magic powers to fight against the evil rulers called Tantas. Promises to be fireworks, at least visually. A demo is already available for the PS5.

"Dead Space"
If "The Callisto Protocol" disappointed you a little or you just can't get enough of sci-fi horror games, then look forward to the end of January. That's when the remake of "Dead Space" is released. The nerve-wracking battle against the nightmarish necromorphs comes with modern graphics and a few gameplay adjustments. I can hardly wait.

"One Piece: Odyssey"
The 25th anniversary of "One Piece" sees the release of "Odyssey", which combines JRPG elements with content from the anime series. As is typical for the series, you can look forward to an abstruse adventure with scantily clad ladies, crocodile dragons and crazy pirates.

"SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake"
A colourful action platformer with the yellow sponge and his friends.

February
"Deliver Us Mars"
The sequel to "Deliver Us The Moon" is a sci-fi adventure with puzzles and climbing on the red planet.

"Hogwarts Legacy"
An open-world action role-playing game in the "Harry Potter" universe

"Wild Hearts"
A kind of "Monster Hunter" from Omega Force, the studio behind "Dynasty Warriors" in collaboration with EA. I'm really looking forward to that.

"The Settlers: New Alliances"
After the first previews were pretty devastating, Ubisoft has postponed the building strategy game once again. You'll soon find out whether it paid off.

"Atomic Heart"
The game is strongly reminiscent of "Bioshock" with its quirky sci-fi steampunk world. The studio, which was founded in Cyprus, has modelled its setting on the former Soviet Union.

"Like a Dragon: Ishin!"
An action role-playing game from the "Yakuza" makers set in Tokyo in 1860 with samurai swords and revolvers.

"Digimon World: Next Order"
The monster-collecting series enters the next round in February.

"Horizon Call of the Mountain"
A spin-off of the post-apocalyptic adventure with robot dinosaurs for Sony's new VR glasses PSVR2.

A 2D action platformer in which you play Death himself. Or as Terry Pratchett would write it: TOD.

The completely redeveloped "Resident Evil 4" brings the 18-year-old classic to modern gaming devices.

The remake of the cult sci-fi role-playing game from 1994 lets you explore an eerie space station full of creepy monsters and lots of puzzles.

A psychedelic horror game from Blooper Team. It is the fourth game in the series.

An asymmetrical multiplayer game in which three aliens that look like clowns hunt down seven humans. Based on the film of the same name from the 80s.

"Star Trek: Resurgence"
An adventure game from ex-Telltale developers, set in the post-Next Generation era.

The first major expansion for the open-world dino-robot adventure

The open-world zombie shooter that was thought to be dead once again lets you make lots of murder tools and beat up monsters with them

The eagerly awaited sequel to "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild"

"Gotham Knights" was quite a flop. That's why hopes are all the higher for the next co-op superhero and anti-hero game in the DC universe.

"Forza Motorsport"
With ultra-detailed rendered racing cars and sophisticated driving physics, "Forza Motorsport" should once again be a feast for racing simulation fans.

The "Zelda"-"Dark Souls"-like "Hyper Light Drifter" is one of my absolute favourite games. I'm correspondingly hyped for the sequel.

Another game set in Middle-earth, or rather under Middle-earth. In this co-op game, you explore the mines of Moria with your dwarf friends.

Ryu, Ken and Chun Li will soon be kicking the crap out of each other again

"RoboCop: Rogue City"
Clean up the streets of futuristic Detroit in the body of the legendary RoboCop. As in the 1987 film, he is played by Peter Weller.

"Death Stranding 2"
The completely crazy post-apocalyptic postman story continues. Norman Reedus is back in the film, but appears to have been replaced as the main character by Léa Seydoux.

"Dune: Awakening"
An MMO set in the world of Frank Herbert's desert planet Arrakis. The game is being developed by Funcom, who have a wealth of MMO experience with "Age of Conan", "The Secret World" and "Conan Exiles".

"Everspace 2"
The second instalment of the space shooter turns into an open-world game with a greater focus on story and role-playing elements. Can already be tried out in Early Access.

"Final Fantasy VII Rebirth"
"Final Fantasy VII Rebirth" is the second part of the "Final Fantasy VII" remake trilogy.

The sequel to the ingenious rogue-like dungeon crawler with a surprisingly complex story will continue in 2023 as Early Access.

The trailer doesn't give much away yet, but an action adventure with Mike Mignola's Hellboy is definitely worth a look.

The predecessor is considered one of the best Metroidvania games ever. Expectations for the sequel in the magical beetle world are correspondingly high.

In the second instalment, you slip back into the role of Peter Parker and swing your way through New York. Your opponent will be Venom, among others.

"Remnant II"
"Remnant from the Ashes" may have flown under the radar for many. It is a "Dark Souls"-like survival shooter that can also be played with friends. Part two continues the story of this mysterious fantasy sci-fi world.

"S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl"
The eagerly awaited sequel to one of the best open-world survival games ever.

The predecessor is considered one of the best games from the former Telltale Studios. Although the studio has since been revitalised, hardly any of the former developers are still involved. Let's hope that the second adaptation of the great comic series "Fables" by Bill Willingham continues at the same level.
