Playstation 5: The Community game help is coming
Sony has announced that it will be expanding the game help function on the PS5 in an update this year. The new function automatically generates videos from your gameplay to help others with tricky parts.
It's probably happened to all of us at some point. You're playing a game and get stuck on a tricky situation. Many continue to agonise until they discover the solution themselves, while others seek help somehow. Sony now knows what to do: a new Community game help function will be introduced on Playstation 5 later this year. This new function gives you the option to automatically create gameplay videos that can help others with problems.
Extension of the current game help function
The Community game help function is intended to supplement the existing game help function by expanding the library. The previous "Game Help" function only offered PS5 Plus users a view of gameplay clips from game developers. If you get stuck at a certain point in the game, you can open the Control Centre by pressing the PS button. You can then search for an action card with the "Hints available" icon and access possible Community gameplay help. A Playstation Plus membership is not required for the new Community game help function. Sony emphasises in their blog post that it will be available to all PS5 users as soon as it is unlocked.
Active consent is required
You can decide for yourself whether you want to contribute to improving the Community game help function. You must log in to do so. The video clips will then be uploaded automatically in the background if you have not logged out. Images and audio from your webcam, microphone or party chat will not be shared, according to Sony. However, depending on the game, they may contain your online ID and/or chat messages.
Once a clip has been approved, you will receive a notification on PS5 that your video has been published as a help note for the game. Once the clip is uploaded to Sony's server, it will be automatically removed from your PS5 so as not to take up space on your console.

In addition, you have the option of setting a limit on how many clips you would like to contribute per month. Videos that have already been uploaded can also be viewed and deleted later in your library. There will also be an option to rate Community clips to see how helpful they were.
When and for which games is the function coming?
A specific release date for the new function is still unknown. According to Sony, it will be added to the system later this year for selected games. The company is still remaining silent about these games. The aim is to extend the Community game help function to as many games as possible in the future.
