Information on memory configuration: The following technical specifications should be considered in advance: ECC DIMM (with Error-Correction-Code) or RDIMM (Registered DIMM) RAM can be installed in the device. RDIMM memory is recommended for achieving large memory capacities. The different memory technologies (ECC / RDIMM) must not be mixed. If a memory upgrade is to be made with the existing RAM, it must be checked which memory technology (ECC / RDIMM) is present. A higher memory clock of the memory module automatically adjusts to the memory clock specified by the system. This can especially be the case with larger capacities. Memory slots without a processor present must not be populated.

Principles of memory configuration: The memory slots are organized in groups of three. In each group of three, a maximum of 2 slots can be used for UDIMM ECC memory. In each group of three, a maximum of 2 slots can be populated with 4Rank RDIMM memory. The different groups of three slots do not need to have the same capacities.

Memory configuration for good system performance: Distribute the memory evenly across the memory slots and evenly across the CPUs. With three identical memories per group of three slots, performance can be up to three times faster compared to populating the group of three slots with only one memory. If more than one CPU is present, the RAM should be populated identically (mirrored to the other CPU) per CPU.
