RAM technology at maximum capacity:

• Maximum possible memory configuration (with 2 CPUs, each with 4 slots):
• UDIMM ECC: 64GB RAM (2 x 4 x 8GB ECC UDIMM)
• RDIMM 2Rank: 128GB RAM (2 x 4 x 16GB RDIMM)
• RDIMM 4Rank: 256GB RAM (2 x 4 x 32GB RDIMM)
• LRDIMM: 512GB RAM (2 x 4 x 64GB LRDIMM)

ECC DIMM, Registered DIMM, and Load Reduced LRDIMM memory modules must not be mixed. Therefore, when upgrading, you should know which memory is already installed or upgrade completely to RDIMM memory.

Principles of memory configuration:

• ECC DIMM, Registered DIMM, and Load Reduced LRDIMM memory modules must not be mixed.
• Memory slots without a processor present must not be populated.
• Memory configuration for good system performance: Distribute the memory evenly across the memory slots and evenly across the CPUs. If more than one CPU is present, the memory for each CPU should be identical (mirrored to the other CPU).
