USB-C docking stations can be operated on devices with Thunderbolt. Unfortunately not the other way round. The Surface Pro 7 has a USB-C port. This means that only USB-C docking stations are compatible and not Thunderbolt.

Hello, normally it is possible to do it, on the TB16 there is a TB3 port which allows to chain several TB3 devices. At the moment I use it with a Dell Precision 5510 and a CalDigit TS3 - Dell TB16 - HighPoint RocketStor 5212 chain (via a TB3 - TB2 adapter).

Hello, I bought the docking and it works very well. For what is dual screen 4K you need HDMI 2 or display port. And yes the docking can do dual 4K or single 5K.

Conclusion after ordering and installation. For alienware devices from the R3 series, the power-on and charging function via the dock does not work because the notebook is recognised as a non-Dell product. All other functions work perfectly. Even 2 screens in 4k are no problem and can be used without interruption.

Yes, good question. I bought it because it was recommended for my XPS15. But there is also the 180W version. That would have been enough for a long time and the power supply (external from the TB16 anyway) wouldn't be so clunky. A laptop usually only draws 10-20 watts if you're not watching 7 films at a time, and otherwise charging takes a little longer. Whether your P50 works with it depends only on whether you have a Thunderbolt = USB 3 type "C" plug, the oval one that you can also plug in upside down. If so, the 180W version is also sufficient. Incidentally, the docking station offers various useful connections, but at least in my case no support for transferring the 4k screen of the XPS15 to an external 4k Samsung UE55JS8580, which was promised somewhere on the net (don't forget, the original TB15 was suddenly withdrawn from the market for reasons that are not entirely transparent).
