No, you can integrate them into an SSID. Leave the old access point, new satellites with the same SSID. But three of the satellites broke down. I therefore switched to Orbi, which works excellently and is much faster.

Super device! It passes on the lousy signal it receives from the router without any loss. Thanks to this device, I now have unrestricted lousy Wi-Fi on my terrace. Before, only indoors.

According to the brand, only the devolo Magic range is not compatible: "Yes, dLAN products in different speed ranges are fully compatible with each other. The only exception are the older 14 and 85 Mbps adapters. These are not compatible with the current products. For technical reasons, adapters from the devolo Magic series are not compatible with dLAN adapters."

The device, which is plugged into the router, has two Ethernet ports for: - One to connect to the router - One to connect to a PC, for example. This means that no extra router connection is needed. And yes, the powerline receiver only has one port, you would have to connect a switch there if you want several LAN ports. Note: In my case, the powerline receiver regularly broke down after approx. 2 years (this also happened to others, according to research in various forums), after the second time I then inserted an Ethernet cable, and now it runs carefree.

That is already possible. Quote from devolo: However, the majority of commercially available power strips with surge protection lead to performance losses of the devolo network and are therefore only recommended to a limited extent. One exception are models specially designed for use in combination with devolo adapters. These are available from manufacturers such as APC (models PL8VT3-DE and PL5B-DE). What is important here is probably simply a good quality power strip with surge protection. However, the above-mentioned products from APC are not available in Switzerland.

The situation is exactly the same for me - the router is on the 2nd floor of the house and with 2 devices it works perfectly on the 1st floor and also on the ground floor. I can recommend the product without reservation.
