I do not expect compatibility problems. The read and write speed on the MacBook Air early 2014 is given by the MacBook interfaces as follows: 2 USB ports up to 5Gbps + 1 Thunderbolt port up to 10Gbps (source MacTracker). The read rate of the Sandisk is 1Gbps and is thus not slowed down by the MacBook. I am very satisfied with the device.

No, that's right, it's USB 3.1 Gen 2 (not USB 3.2).
This will not work because the SSD wants to draw power from an external power source (not a battery). The SSD has no power supply. However, Canon EOS R <> laptop <> Sandisk Extreme Pro Portable via cable would be possible.
