The bidirectional adapter converts IDE to SATA or SATA to IDE. PATA2SATA3 is a bidirectional SATA/IDE adapter/converter that allows you to connect a serial ATA drive to an older IDE port or an IDE drive to a SATA port on the motherboard. With the SATA/IDE adapter, you can upgrade existing IDE systems to support SATA hard drives or optical drives, saving you the cost of a controller card and the necessary expansion slot. In addition to installing a SATA hard drive, the adapter can also be used in reverse to connect older IDE drives to a newer SATA-capable motherboard, making it easier to retrieve old files from a previous system.
