Can I use these for a MacBook Pro straight away or do I have to painstakingly format them first? Apple MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) MacOS Catalina System

Hello! Yes, I've picked out something for you from Heise that tests the 870 QVO 2.5" SATA SSD, even with 8 TB. https://www.heise.de/tests... Have fun reading and of course with the new drive!

Samsung Electronics GmbH
Hello,
Thank you very much for your enquiry.
If your MacBook Pro has the model name 9.1 / 9.2, it should have a SATA port and you can use the Samsung 870 QVO SSD.
If in doubt, please contact Apple support directly.
Please note that if you are using Mac OS, additional third party applications need to be installed to enable the TRIM command under this operating system.
Kind regards from Schwalbach,
Your Samsung Service Team
