Can the USB-C, which is intended for the monitor connection (40 Gbit/s), also be used for combined charging or does a second USB cable have to be connected to the USB-C labelled with lightning for charging? We use an HP docking station and would like to connect only 1 USB-C cable if possible, so that the image / power supply can be transferred to the notebook via the same cable.

Helpful answer
Yes, you can use the USB-C cable for the monitor connection and for charging at the same time if it supports USB Power Delivery (PD). Some Lenovo ThinkBook models have USB-C ports that support both Power Delivery and DisplayPort, which makes it possible to transfer image and power over one cable. Make sure your HP docking station supports USB PD to charge the notebook.
